Similar to the green beech but produces beautiful purple (copper) leaves from March through to September. If allowed will grow into a large tree, reaching 15ft in 10 years. Likes dry and shady sites but will require lots of watering for the first year. Can also be used for hedging. Owing to its colour, the copper beech would make a suitable gift for a Ruby wedding present. The current height of this tree 30-50cm high and it can be planted all year round.
